COLLAGRAPH PRINT

Collagraph Printmaking

What is a collagraph print?  A collagraph is a type of print derived from a plate which has been prepared by adding textures to a surface such as illustration board, and then inked and run through a press.  When I began encaustic painting in 2008, I dribbled encaustic medium on board and after inking up this plate, noticed a very unique surface.  I used prints derived from these wax plates to develop my "Terra Infirma" series, seen here, which were exhibited in a solo exhibition entitled, "Half-Life", University Center Gallery, University of Montana, 2009.
